Bob & Dianna Ericsson

Association of Baptists for World Evangelism

March 2020

We wanted to send out an update of what has been happening here in Texas.

Strange Times

The whole world has been impacted by COVID-19. Thankfully, up to now, no one we know personally has tested positive with the virus.  I think it’s safe to say we are all a little more nervous when we hear someone cough or sneeze and we are being extra expedient with sanitizing things we come into contact with.  In these uncertain times, what a comfort it is for us to know the One who is in control.

Colombia Trip

Besides the impact on our daily lives, the trip we planned to Colombia has also been affected. The seminary class that Bob is supposed to teach in late May-early June, is still on our calendar!  However, it is going to be a digital class.  We corresponded with the seminary director today about the changes, and all the seminary classes will be held online during the COVID crisis. Sadly, our trip to Colombia is cancelled. We are very disappointed we will not be able to see friends and the ministries we served in but are very glad Bob will still have the opportunity to teach this course in some capacity to the seminary students.

Creative Ministry

Like many churches, we had our first ever online services these past weeks. We have been working through the challenges to broadcast our services electronically. On the bright side, the pandemic has motivated us to dive into a new medium of communication.  The Lord can use this for more people to hear the gospel on their phones or computers.  On Palm Sunday, Bob preached in the morning in English and in the afternoon in Spanish. If the numbers on our Facebook Live are any indicator, we had better than normal attendance.

We are encouraged to be joining with everyone in prayer as we learn to navigate this new normal.
